Calibration of all portable radiation survey meters is required by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Agreement States. AEIL provides this service utilizing National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable radiation sources and experienced personnel.

AEIL provides this service for survey meters up to dose rates of two R/hr. AEIL will make necessary adjustments to bring your survey meter within + 20% of the calibrated reading. The cost of calibration is $65.00 per meter. Transportation, insurance, batteries, parts and repair charges are in addition to this amount. Following calibration, a seal is affixed to the meter indicating the date of the next required calibration and a Certificate of Calibration is supplied to the client. AEIL's calibration service is routinely completed within 48 hours.
We recommend that you ship your "out of calibration" survey meters to us in a sturdy box with at least four inches of shock absorbent packing material between the survey meter and all sides of the shipping box. Enclose appropriate papers (Purchase Orders, shipping papers, etc.) and insure the package prior to shipment to our facility.
It is advisable to change batteries at regular intervals, depending on frequency of usage. If your survey meter is rarely used, batteries should be removed to avoid corrosion.
In order to help our clients that are further away, AEIL has a new Pickup and Delivery program to provide a worry free calibration process for our clients in the greater Pasadena, La Porte, and Deer Park Area. Please contact us for more information regarding pickup locations.
